The purpose of their visit was to view the AUAF campus and discuss the AUAF application to UNESCO for the award as "Chair of Entrepreneurship Education Studies" in Afghanistan.

Over brief tours of both campuses of the university, the delegation was brief on the university facilities, programs, academic degrees, student activities, centers of excellence, and future plans. During their time on the International Campus, members of the Business Innovation Hub (BIH) team presented the scope of their entrepreneurship trainings and services they offer Afghan business, and members of the International Center for Afghan Women’s Economic Development (ICAWED) team spoke of center’s programs and initiatives and the entrepreneurship based programming that the UNESCO award will bring to AUAF.

Mr. Habibyar and Mr. Padilla expressed their support of the impressive world class facilities at AUAF, and the potential for a successful program of entrepreneurship education studies. During the next two weeks, ICAWED Executive Director, Ms. Zen Parry; and BIH Executive Director, Mr. Destageer Haidari; will visit the Office of ANC for UNESCO and ISESCO to complete protocols before submitting the application to the Paris headquarters of UNESCO.

"The importance of the visit by these esteemed guests is underscored by the fact that this application is the first of its kind and the first acknowledgement of entrepreneurship education in higher education in Afghanistan," said Ms. Parry. "I will be visiting the ANC office on April 19 to receive the Letter of Support from Mr. Habibyar, which is another very positive step in this process."

The visit was extremely successful with both guests eager to visit AUAF again including attending the upcoming Graduation Ceremony of the university honoring the class of 2016, and entrepreneurship events on International Campus.
