Afghanistan’s feature leaders are studying at the American University of Afghanistan. To exercise their leadership potential, students have a voice in the running of the University through the democratically-elected Student Government.
The Student Government provides a forum for student expression, participates in the management of the University, fosters student-staff relations, instills University values, provides direction for student activities, and promotes the general welfare of the University.
In 2007 the University supported the election of the first undergraduate Student Government. Democratic elections were held in summer of 2007 to elect student representatives for the following academic year. In fall 2007, two additional students were elected to represent the new first year students. Additionally, one student was appointed to represent the Foundation Studies Program.
All members of the student government are current students at the University and serve for one year.
