Although learning is a student's first priority, the American University of Afghanistan encourages students to seek out fellow students who share their extracurricular interests. By forming clubs, students can share mutual interests and become more diverse, critical-thinking graduates.

Examples of these student club activities include debate, sports, women’s groups, music, art, charity and other activities as decided by the students.
