Director's Message

Dear AUAF Students,

My name is Mr. H. David Shaw and I am the Director of Student Affairs at AUAF.  I would like to welcome you to the American University of Afghanistan and to the AUAF family.  I hope that your time as members of our community here is fruitful in your academic endeavors.  I also hope that you will make connections at AUAF that will last a lifetime and beyond. 

As the Director of Student Affairs, I oversee all that is Student Life.  From Student Government, Clubs and Organizations, Residence Life, and even campus conduct issues.  First and foremost I would like to challenge you to get involved and engaged on campus.  As has been proven time and time again your success not only at AUAF but for the rest of your life is determined in a great part by how engaged you are during your years in college.  I therefore challenge you to find areas in which to be involved on campus.  There are plenty of opportunities to do so.   If you cannot find an a way come visit with me and we will find the right niche for you to become engaged. 

You will hear often that the best years of your life are those in college.  It is my responsibility to help insure that is true while you are at AUAF.  I welcome your input and my door is always open.  Good luck and I hope to see you in the near future active and involved on campus.
