The American University of Afghanistan’s Professional Development Institute was established in 2007 to meet the training needs of professionals in Afghanistan and the region. It offers an array of high-impact, high-value training courses, workshops and seminars to professionals from the private sector, non-governmental organizations working in Afghanistan and the region, and governmental bodies.

The Institute uses flexible and innovative modes of delivery to meet the specialized needs of its clients, including courses, workshops, and seminars. Clients can choose from a number of different training options, including on-demand, customized training courses; scheduled classes taught on a recurring basis; and topical seminars and workshops for upper level executives.

Methods of Delivery

On-demand, customized training courses
Customized training products take into account the specific needs of the client, as well as the political, economic, and cultural background of their operating environment. Programs are designed as 6-week classes, meeting 2 days per week for 2.5 hours each session, or as 6-week classes, meeting 3 days per week for 1.5 hours each session.

Scheduled classes taught on a recurring basis
Organizations can take advantage of high-caliber courses already offered by the Professional Development Institute, such as English for Professionals.

Topical seminars, as well as intensive learning workshops for upper level executives in the private sectors and government officials
Seminars and workshops geared toward organizational leadership and management in today’s challenging operating environment.

To deliver the best quality training, all classes have a maximum of 15 students per class.

Customized English Proficiency Test ensure that all course participants enter a given course at similar levels of proficiency. Participants who do not meet the threshold entry requirements are offered similar course material at a lower intensity to ensure their ability to meet all the learning objectives of the course.

Costs per course are determined in consultation with the Professional Development Institute. To inquire about training courses, please contact the Institute directly.
