PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT INSTITUTE
The Professional Development Institute offers a broad range of training and education courses throughout Afghanistan to private business, non-profit agencies, NGOs, and governments. The Institute draws on the expertise of the world-class faculty at the American University of Afghanistan and others to provide courses custom tailored to specific needs as well as courses offered on an open enrollment basis. This expertise includes English language, business administration and management, public administration, and information technology.
AUAF English Language Center
The AUAF English Language Center within the Institute provides a comprehensive range of English language training for non-native speakers. This includes courses for non-users all the way through expert user. In addition, specialized courses are offered for business, legal, and academic English language. Different courses emphasize listening, reading, writing, and speaking.
Business Unit
The Professional Development Institute also offers courses based on the unique needs of clients. For example, the Institute administers short-term courses in accounting, finance, project management, human resources management, and information technologies. In addition, the Institute can develop curriculums for customized certificate programs in areas such as management and public administration. The Business Unit now offers training and exam prep courses in ACCA, the internationally accredited accounting organization.
Information Technology
The IT program offers a variety of technology training: Cisco, Comp TIA, ICDL, Microsoft, Oracle, and Redhat among others. PDI’s IT programs have several advantages for students. First, training has been authorized by their respective vendors. And second, PDI’s testing center facility provides students with the opportunity to certify their training. Certification in all IT programs is recognized internationally.
Custom Programs Unit
PDI also provides courses based on the specialized needs of clients. For example, the Institute can provide short-courses on topics like accounting, finance, project management, human resources management, and information technologies. In addition, the Institute can develop customized certificate programs in areas like management and public administration.
Open Enrollment Courses
The Institute offers courses on an open enrolment basis. Each quarter a catalog is available that describes upcoming course offerings. Open enrolment courses include English, Graduate Records Examination preparation courses, accounting certification courses at both the CAT and ACCA levels as well as other offerings.
