AUAF, Yosuf’s Preferred Route
Mohammad Yosuf Azizi has always had a nose for achievement. His route to academic success bypassed other universities and landed him in AUAF’s Foundation Studies Program.
Until recently, Yosuf worked with the Azizi Group, one of the large financial consortiums in Afghanistan. The job, as he says, was "cool". He explains: "My job was to supervise different projects the Group implemented." An ambitious man, he had placed himself in a supervision position at a young age. He adds: "I attended school at the same time."
Yosuf is a high achiever in school as well. He graduated from Amani High School, a large and prominent high school in Kabul, in 2003, ranking among the top ten students of the graduating class.
After achieving a score of 298 out of 360 on Afghanistan’s college entrance test – a score well beyond the reach of the majority of high school graduates - it appeared that Yosuf was looking at a promising career in Afghanistan’s national education system.
Although Yosuf had opportunity to join the prestigious Engineering Faculty of Kabul University, he opted to join the AUAF community instead. In his opinion, "the quality of education and teaching method are very good here."
Today he is enrolled in bridge classes in AUAF’s Foundation Studies Program. Bridge classes prepare students for the challenging expectations of university degree programs, and also develop the high-level English language skills necessary to take on major employment positions in Afghanistan or abroad.
Looking at the classes, the first point that comes to Yosuf’s mind is about his instructor: "Elizabeth is hardworking and strict." He continues: "She helps everyone to learn."
Yosuf is moving fast on his preferred path. After completing the bridge courses, he will take the internet-based Test of English as a Foreign Language (iBT) in a bid to achieve the AUAF satisfactory score of 61/120 in order to enroll in the Undergraduate Program.
"I am going to complete the course in few months and I am already confident about the test," he says.
