AUAF Partners with Thunderbird, Goldman Sachs

Thunderbird is consistently ranked Number 1 in International Business

AUAF has announced a major partnership with Thunderbird School of Global Management and Goldman Sachs Group, Inc. to provide business training to Afghan entrepreneurs.

The partnership, which will see approximately 150 female entrepreneurs receive basic business training over the next two years, is supported by one of the foremost universities in the US, Thunderbird School of Global Management.

It also represents significant private investment by one of the world’s largest global investment banking, securities and investment management firms, Goldman Sachs Group Inc.

The program is part of a larger initiative by Goldman Sachs, titled 10,000 Women, which will provide approximately 10,000 women, predominantly in developing and emerging countries, with a business management and entrepreneurship training. It forges connections between universities in countries such as Egypt, India, and Kenya and renowned universities in the United States, including Harvard Business School, Stanford Graduate School of Business, and Columbia Business School.

"AUAF is proud to partner with two leading organizations in education and business, Thunderbird and Goldman Sachs, to support Afghan women in creating better futures for themselves, their families, and their country," said AUAF President Thomas Stauffer.

The partnership between Thunderbird and Goldman Sachs will also strengthen AUAF’s undergraduate business offerings. AUAF, which enrolled its first students in 2006, also runs an undergraduate degree program in business.

Thunderbird School for Global Business is the first and oldest graduate school in the United States focused exclusively on global business. It currently administers Project Artemis, a unique business-skills training program that aims to build the entrepreneurial skills of promising Afghan businesswomen. The new program will compliment Project Artemis and extend the reach of Thunderbird’s training.
