Engaging Professionals at AUAF
In March 2008, AUAF’s Professional Development Institute (PDI) will offer three intensive seminars to the public to support entrepreneurs and managers in their roles.
Scheduled to occur between 23 March and 28 March 2008, the three seminars on offer provide introductions to topics such as strategies for managers and planning for female entrepreneurs.
"These are excellent short-term seminars for both professionals and determined individuals who need advanced skills in their duties or have a demanding daily schedule," says Mr. Obaid Adnan Nejati, Director of the Institute.
Demand has already proven substantial. One month before the seminars, 60 persons had already registered. Participating organizations include the Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce and the Afghan Women Business Federation.
Utilizing expert instructors and a student-centered system, PDI has attracted several professional institutions such as the World Bank and Roshan, which benefit from its trainings in various fields of business, information systems, capacity development and management.
"Our instructors are all highly qualified, with each one having advanced education as well as experience working in Afghanistan." Mr. Nejati.
The Institute was launched in September 2007 as an initiative of the American University of Afghanistan aiming at responding to capacity needs of civil society as well as business professionals.
An active program since September 2007, PDI has trained approximately 200 professionals from different institutions and companies to better perform in their duties with a rising slope of interest recorded on PDI’s Board after the end of every term.
"The number of our instructors and students has doubled this semester" Mr. Nejati points out. Poised to develop further in coming semesters, the PDI team works to maintain its "high quality and effectiveness" criteria.
"PDI is growing exponentially. We offer courses through a demand-driven mechanism," explains Mr. Nejati, referring to a system undertaken by PDI to meet specific needs of every interested and in need institution or individual.
