AUAF Concludes Semester Three
The conclusion of an academic semester at AUAF is a time to reflect, relax, and regroup in preparation for upcoming challenges.
This Fall 2007 semester, which concluded in December, was a particularly important hurdle in AUAF’s development. The semester, which started in August, marked the beginning of the second academic year since the University opened its doors in 2006.
In terms of growth, AUAF is still in its infancy but is growing rapidly. Each semester sets a new benchmark in terms of increased students, staff, and programs.
As well as welcoming an additional 20 undergraduate students, an additional seven professors joined the Undergraduate and Foundation Studies Programs, as well as a number of administrative staff.
A new vision and mission, endorsed by the University’s Board of Trustees in November, provides guidance for AUAF’s everyday operations.
To better communicate with potential students, donors, and the general public, the University launched a new website in November. Recruiting trips to Mazar-e-Sharif and Bamiyan were also mounted.
This semester also saw the official launch of the Professional Development Institute, an important resource for employers seeking high-value, high-impact courses, seminars, and workshops.
"In a very short time, PDI has launched four training programs as well as planning and designing future programs and laying the groundwork for major partnerships," recounted Mr. Obaid Adnan Nejati, Director of the PDI.
Students’ prospects are growing in tandem with AUAF. At their end-of-semester graduation ceremony, students from the Foundation Studies Program emphasized the value of what they had learned for their future.
Mr. Sulaiman Sadaat, a student in the Foundation Studies Program, said, "I’m here because it is important to be able to participate in the undergraduate program. I’ll chose business administration, because I want my current (import/export) business to be worldwide."
Ms. Ann Marsh, an AUAF English-as-a-Foreign Language Instructor, finished the semester with positive commendations about her class. "Most of them really turned it out," she noted. "I was very, very satisfied."
Ms. Gitiy Murad, 18, most enjoyed the films shown in her English-as-Foreign-Language class. "Because we learned a lot from it and it was fun!"
Mr. Khushal Sherzad, 20, is in his second year of undergraduate studies at AUAF. Despite just completing a grueling round of end-of-semester exams, he remains energetic and upbeat about his studies. "At AUAF the quality is international. It’s extremely useful for us"
The next semester, which begins in January, will see still more forward progress, with new students, new courses, and new partnerships expected.
Potential students are encouraged to apply as soon as possible. Please see the Admissions portion of this website for more information.
