New Campus

In coming years, the American University of Afghanistan will build a modern, fully-equipped new campus on land leased until 2103 from the Government of Afghanistan.

The new campus, to be located on a 43-acre site adjacent to Darulaman Palace and the planned Afghanistan Parliament Building in the Karte Se area of Kabul, will be responsive to the needs of Afghan students, the environment of Kabul, and the long-term plans of the University. It will contain comfortable student and faculty housing, modern teaching facilities, administrative buildings, and support infrastructure. It will also feature sports facilities, gardens, parks, and pedestrian areas.

The master plan was developed by both Afghan and American architects. Development of the plan was led by Yost Grube Hall Architecture and Studio Zarnegar. Other stakeholders, such as the Ministry of Urban Planning and Housing and the Kabul Municipality, were also involved in its development.
