Transfer and Returning Students

Students who have attended another four-year university and who wish to apply for admission as a transfer student must submit the following documents to the Admissions Office:

  • A completed application form
  • A personal essay of 250 words describing why you are interested in studying at AUAF.
  • A letter of referral letter from a non-family member who can give evidence of your character
  • One copy of a high school transcript
  • One copy of a high school diploma
  • Copy of tazkera or passport
  • Proof of English proficiency*
  • One official transcript from all universities attended

For possible transfer of class credits, applicants must provide official course descriptions from the Office of the Registrar from the original institution along with course syllabi for each course.

If you have enrolled for classes at the American University of Afghanistan in the past but are no longer a student, please contact the Admissions Office for re-admission instructions.

*English proficiency can be proven by a score of 500 on the paper-based Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL), 61 on the internet-based TOEFL (iBT), a 5.0 on the International English-Language Testing System (IELTS), or 3 years attendance in a high school with English as the language of instruction.
