Encouraging the best performance from students is an important goal of the American University of Afghanistan. To reward excellence both inside and outside the classroom, the University offers a number of scholarships to its students. All scholarships are merit-based; recipients are chosen purely on the basis of their academic and personal performance.

Current Scholarships

Azizi Undergraduate (2 scholarships)
Awarded to one female and one male student who are presently in or are applying to the Undergraduate Program and who have obtained a minimum TOEFL score of 500. Selection for these scholarships is made on the basis of personal essays written at the TOEFL examination. Recipients are entitled to full-time or part-time paid tuition for one semester.

Azizi Foundation Studies (2 scholarships)
Awarded to one female and one male student presently in or applying to the Foundation Studies Program. Selection for these scholarships is made on the basis of personal essays to be written at the English Proficiency Test. Recipients are entitled to full-time or part-time paid tuition for one semester.

Highest TOEFL Score (2 scholarships)
Awarded to one female and one male student with the highest TOEFL score. These scholarships are available to all applicants to the Undergraduate Program. Recipients are entitled to one undergraduate course.

Most Improved Student (2 scholarships)
Awarded to one female and one male student on the basis of academic and personal progress over the course of the preceding year. These scholarships are available to all applicants to the Undergraduate Program. Recipients are entitled to paid tuition for one undergraduate course.

Best Foundation Studies Program Student (1 scholarship)
Open to all current Foundation Studies students who are enrolling in the Undergraduate Program for the following semester. Recipients are entitled to paid tuition for one undergraduate course.

Best Male and Female Undergraduate Student (2 scholarships)
Awarded to one female and one male student on the basis of their grade point averages over at least two semesters of undergraduate study. Recipients are entitled to paid tuition for two semesters of full-time study.

Best New Male Student and Best New Female Student (2 scholarships)
Awarded to the male and female student who have attained the highest grade point average over at least two semesters of undergraduate study. Recipients are entitled to paid tuition for one undergraduate course.
