Mr. Johan Brongers, B.A., M.B.A.
Chief Finance and Administration Officer and Vice President

Johan Brongers joined the American University of Afghanistan from Hampshire College, Amherst, Massachusetts, United States, where he was Vice President for Finance and Administration from 2000 to 2007. In this role he was responsible for all financial and treasury functions, facilities management, human resources, business functions, auxiliary enterprises, purchasing, legal matters, and risk management. Prior to joining Hampshire College, Mr. Brongers was employed with the European Division of General Motors for 27 years. He worked in numerous countries in a variety of roles for the company, including Executive Director of Regional Human Resources in Singapore and General Director of International Personnel at the General Motors Headquarters in Detroit. With a B.A. degree in Business and Sociology from the University of Oregon in Eugene and an M.B.A. from the University of Puget Sound, Tacoma, Washington, Mr. Brongers brings to the University his extensive experience in establishing new operations. This experience will be instrumental in helping the continued development of the University over the next five to ten years.
